EMBA Electricity Production Co. Inc.

EMBA Electricity Production Inc., as a joint venture company invested by Chinese Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd., Avic-Intl Project Engineering Company, and Turkish local investors, is developing an imported coal fired thermal power plant projects in Turkey with the capacity of 2x 660 MW. The project is located in Adana Province, Yumurtalık District, Sugözü Village. This power plant will be 8.000 hours operational in a year and it will produce 11,5 billion kWh electricity power and this will be an important contribution for the energy demand in Turkey.

There will be an employment opportunity for 4.000 employees at the construction phase and 500 employees at the production phase.

By means of SEP's experience in power generation for a century and up to date technologies, we will try our best to build an environment friendly, clean coal fired power plant with high capacity, high reliability and high efficiency. For which, a number of measures are to be adopted to control the air pollutants, water pollutants, solid waste and noise.

Air Pollutants Control
For air pollutants control, specific measures will be implemented to reduce NOx, SOx and dust emission. The NOx emission will be reduced to less than 100mg/Nm3 with the configuration of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) DeNOx system. The flue gas from boiler flows through the SCR reactor, where special catalyst is installed, and is mixed with ammonia. Thanks to the special catalyst, in the reactor, the NOx is reacted with NH3 and reduced to harmless N2 and H2O. The design efficiency of DeNOx system for EMBA Hunutlu project is more than 70%. Thereafter the NOx emission limit of the latest Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive (IPPC) code can be satisfied.

The dust emission will be reduced to less than 5mg/Nm3 with an integrated configuration of Dry Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) system and Wet ESP.
Water Pollutant Control
For water pollutants control, specific measures will be implemented to reduce industrial waste water and sewage.

The industrial waste water, including frequent waste water and infrequent waste water, is to be disposed by the industrial waste water treatment system. The frequent waste water includes the boiler make-up water, laboratory waste water etc. while the infrequent waste water includes boiler chemical cleaning waste water, air pre-heater flushing waste water etc. The treated and qualified water will be discharged according to relative codes or re-used as spray water in coal storage yard and ash disposal yard.

The sewage will be disposed by sewage treatment system and used for the plants watering. In addition, the mud will be regularly transported from the waste water treatment station out of the power plant at a regular basis.
Noise Control
The requirements of the noise control limitations will be specified to the facility suppliers before procurement. Furthermore, mufflers will be configured at the forced draft fans, induced draft fans, air compressors, safety valves and other major noise sources. The local and EN codes can be satisfied.



Plant Efficiency
EMBA Hunutlu Project adopts 2x660 MW Ultra Super critical units while the main steam parameters are set as 27 MPa and 600 °C and reheat steam temperature as 600 °C. Compared with sub critical and super critical units, the ultra super critical units have lower coal consumption, less pollutant emissions and better gross efficiency.

The design gross efficiency of EMBA Hunutlu Project can both reach to 45.57% with a gross coal consumption rate less than 270 g/kWh (converted to 7000 kcal/kg LHV standard coal).
